چکیده

This study aims to prepare a supported catalyst based on zeolite Y doped with NaOMe (sodium methoxide) for the transesterification of waste cooking oil (WCO). The catalytic screening data showed that NaOMe/zeolite is prominent WCO prepared by solvent-free, ball-milling process. We initially tested 5–20% sodium methoxide loading onto and found 20% optimum reaction. reaction required comparatively lower methanol-to-oil mole ratio 16:1 temperature as 60 °C. ball-milled was characterized BET surface area analysis, FE-SEM, TEM, FT–IR, XRD. analysis revealed substantially decreased in catalyst. process dropped crystallinity Y, which can be seen from XRD FE-SEM images both Finally, product fully 1H-NMR viscosity biodiesel, glycerol, WCO. chemical shifts biodiesel glycerol are accordingly. also FT–IR characterization It noteworthy very high mass 250 g oil/g obtained when converting indicating activity aforementioned

Transesterification of Waste Cooking Oil for Biodiesel Production Using Modified Clinoptilolite Zeolite as a Heterogeneous Catalyst

Reduction of fossil fuels sources, increasing of pollution gases emission, and global warming effects increase the demand of renewable fuels. One of the main candidates of alternative fuels is biodiesel. Biodiesel limits greenhouse gas effects due to the closed CO2 cycle. Biodiesel has more biodegradability, lower combustion emissions such as CO, SOx, HC, PM and lower toxicity than petro diesel...

Waste Cooking Oil as an Alternate Feedstock for Biodiesel Production

As crude oil price reach a new high, the need for developing alternate fuels has become acute. Alternate fuels should be economically attractive in order to compete with currently used fossil fuels. In this work, biodiesel (ethyl ester) was prepared from waste cooking oil collected from a local restaurant in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Ethyl alcohol with sodium hydroxide as a catalyst was use...

Biodiesel Production via Transesterification of Low Grade Cooking Oil over Heterostructure Nano Particles of Ni/Mg/Al2O3 Catalyst

Biodiesel which were synthesis from transesterification reaction in the present of heterogeneous base catalyst has been intensively studied over the last decades. This catalyst has an excellent result in producing high percentage conversions of biodiesel without further purification and cleaning process which contribute to the water pollution and high water content in biodiesel product. So, thi...
